About Deducr

Deducr is a free resource for gig economy workers. We publish original guides on self-employment taxes and Schedule C deductions, and we build tools that show you the real after-tax cost of work purchases before you buy.

Why We Built This

Gig workers — Uber drivers, DoorDash couriers, Instacart shoppers, TaskRabbit Taskers — are classified as independent contractors. That means they are running small businesses, whether they think of it that way or not. And like any small business, they are entitled to deduct ordinary and necessary business expenses from their income before calculating what they owe in taxes.

The problem is that most gig workers do not claim these deductions. Studies suggest that self-employed workers leave an average of $5,600 per year in unclaimed deductions. That is not because the deductions are complicated — it is because no one has made it easy to see them at the moment of purchase.

Deducr was built to fix that. We show the real after-tax cost of work supplies on Amazon — what the item actually costs you after all three layers of tax savings are applied — so you can make better purchasing decisions and stop leaving money on the table at tax time.

What We Offer

  • Free tax guides — original, plain-English guides on Schedule C deductions, self-employment tax, quarterly estimated payments, and industry-specific deductions for rideshare, delivery, cleaning, handyman, and other gig work.
  • After-tax price calculator — a free Chrome extension that shows the real after-tax cost of products on Amazon, calculated using your income bracket and filing status.
  • Schedule C record generation — forward your Amazon order confirmation to vouchers@deducr.com and receive a Schedule C reference document organized by IRS line number, useful for documentation at tax time.

How Deducr Makes Money

Deducr earns a small affiliate commission when you purchase items through Amazon links on this site. This commission is paid by Amazon — it does not affect the price you pay. As an Amazon Associate, Deducr earns from qualifying purchases. We do not charge users, and we do not sell personal data. Our incentive is to recommend items that are genuinely useful for gig work — the same items we discuss in our tax guides.

Who We Write For

Our guides are written for gig workers in the United States, with a current focus on California. We cover rideshare drivers (Uber, Lyft), food and grocery delivery drivers (DoorDash, Instacart, Uber Eats), package delivery drivers (Amazon Flex), and home services workers (TaskRabbit, Handy, Angi). All tax information reflects tax year 2026 rules and rates.

A Note on Tax Advice

The content on Deducr is educational. It reflects general tax rules and is intended to help gig workers understand their options — not to serve as a substitute for professional tax advice. Estimated savings shown on this site are approximations based on general tax rules and your selected income bracket. Your actual tax situation may differ. We recommend consulting a qualified tax professional for advice specific to your circumstances.
